When no off-the-shelf product fits

Platforms, apps and systems built around the way you work.
Not every organizational need has a ready-made product, and not every ready-made product truly fits. Sometimes your process is exactly what sets you apart from competitors, and bending it to generic software means giving up that edge. Custom system development is for those cases — but only after we've checked that no existing solution would save you the trouble. If there is one, we'll tell you, even if it means a smaller project for us. The code and documentation are yours, and the contract sets that out up front. Development moves in phases, with a version you can see at every point, so you don't wait six months to find out whether we understood what you asked for.
The problem

Custom system development: when every system covers seventy percent

We looked at every system on the market, and each one covers seventy percent of what we need.
We paid for a system and adapted our work to it, instead of the other way round.
There's an idea for a product, but nobody to take responsibility from discovery through to launch.
The system someone built for us years ago works, but nobody knows how to maintain it any more.
How it looks in practice
A lab serving dozens of business clients handled all coordination by phone and email: who sent a sample, what its status is, when results will be ready. No off-the-shelf system knew this process. We built a client portal where each client sees their samples, the status and the results when they're ready, and gets an automatic notification. The number of phone calls to the lab dropped significantly, and the lab started using the portal as a selling point with new clients. The project was built in phases: the first version had only a status screen, and only after it was proven that clients were using it did we add notifications, history and result downloads. That spread the budget over time and meant we didn't build screens nobody would use.
What the service includes

From screen design to maintenance after launch

Product discovery & user experience
Screens, processes and edge cases are defined before a single line of code, including what the system explicitly does not do.
Interface design
Adapted to your language and brand, including right-to-left Hebrew and Arabic, not a translated foreign template.
Web and mobile development
The same system wherever your team or your customers are, properly adapted for small screens.
Connecting to existing systems
The new system talks to what already runs at your company, so you don't end up with yet another isolated island of data.
Testing and phased go-live
Testing against your real-world scenarios, and a phased go-live with the option to roll back.
Maintenance and further development
Monitoring, fixes and improvements after launch — a live system needs someone accountable for it.
How it works

From the first meeting to go-live

01
Discovery: what the system does, for whom, and what it explicitly won't do in the first version.
02
A prototype of the key screens, so we agree on the experience before it gets built.
03
Development in phases, with a version you can see and respond to at every stage.
04
Testing against your real-world scenarios, not just technical tests against a spec.
05
Go-live, training and support in the first period.
Who it's for

If you recognize yourself here, this is a conversation worth having

Organizations with a unique process that off-the-shelf products don't cover, where adapting to them would undermine exactly what sets them apart from competitors.
Companies that want to turn a service they provide into a digital product.
Organizations that need an interface for their own customers, not just an internal system.
FAQ

What we usually get asked

Will we own the code?
Yes. It's agreed in the contract up front, together with the documentation.
Why not use an existing system?
Usually it's worth it, and we'll tell you so. Building from scratch makes sense when it truly justifies itself.
What if we want to carry on by ourselves?
You get a documented system that can be handed to another team without depending on us.
How much does it cost compared to an off-the-shelf system?
Custom development costs more to set up and less to adapt over time, because there are no per-user licences and no fee for every change. In the first meeting we'll present both options with numbers, even when the conclusion is not to build.
